This. I Love THIS!

SVD at KtownLowdown is running a contest to produce the best slogan for Knoxville in response to today’s MetroPulse article about KTown being a great place to do nothing.  Win a free t-shirt or bumper sticker just for being a smart ass!

KTown is notorious for stealing all the good ideas before I’ve had a chance to think of them, this contest and the domain name ktownlowdown.com being just a couple of examples.

Don’t even bother with “I Am Knoxville (And So Can You)”.  Apparently that idea has already been thought as well.

Rooster the Non-profit Executive

Rooster and I formerly served as officers for our rugby club.  It is rare that people who hold these positions are asked to speak on topics other than club members who have not yet paid their membership dues, and most relish these opportunities.  In his own eloquent way, Rooster makes sure his feelings about public speaking are well known.

Lee vs. Eastwood

A few of my friends have a long thread of emails going that was initiated by Clint Eastwood bitch slapping Spike Lee.  It has evolved into a discussion over the merits of each of their movies.  I’ve spent most of my time on the sidelines of this discussion; all I really needed to do was type in the word “Unforgiven” to get my point across.

I’m not much of a movie critic…most fall into the category “really good”, like Juno (take that HM) or “that sucked”, like “Starship Troopers”.  As I’ve said before, picking movies is a complicated matter.  Luckily, my old age has allowed me to hone my criteria for what constitutes a good movie down to a pretty simple litmus test…

If it ain’t got Jackie Gleason chasin’ Burt Reynolds I ain’t gonna bother watchin’ it.

Introducing BeeFeR

BeeFeR isn’t really a robot. Robots can’t plot and scheme the way BeeFeR can. Also, robots, by nature, are workers–BeeFeR is not. However, the robot pack was the only one on Toonlet that provided a body type that could do BeeFeR justice.

A New Feature

Hat tip to Coma for telling me about Toonlet. This blog is about to get a lot more fun, due to the abundance of characters I’ve known in my life and the amazing things they’ve said. I can think of no better place to start than with the one man quote machine, Rooster. I give you “The Roost, Episode 1”
